The Muath Trust

UK Ambassador to Yemen Visits Yemeni Communities in UK PDF Print E-mail

Tim Torlot, the UK Ambassador to Yemen, visited the Muath Trust on Friday 9th July as part of a Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) outreach programme to engage with the Yemeni communities across the UK. The meeting invited selected representatives of the Yemeni community from across the West Midlands. The discussion raised a broad range of issues and concerns including resumption of direct flights between Yemen and UK, concern about the political conditions in Yemen, particularly in the south of the country, the cost of visa applications for visiting friends and relatives, as well as the reason for the ban on import of Yemeni honey (renowned the world over for quality and medicinal purposes!)

Community representatives praised the Ambassador and the FCO for taking the time to visit and discuss matters of mutual interest.

The Ambassador was also given a short tour of the The Muath Trust and he was introduced to the range of projects and community development initiatives that the trust was involved in. The Muath trust received generous praise from the Ambassador, who believed its projects and community initiatives were important to enable the Yemeni community to learn about their heritage as well as contribute positively to the wider British society.
